 The sector of “mid-sized businesses” (e.g. those with a turnover of up to £250M) is a major driving force in the German economy. In many ways, the challenges they face and the strategies used to tackle them are similar to those seen by large corporations. However when it comes to using outsourcing solutions and service delivery from offshore or nearshore locations, these SMEs have not followed a similar pattern and success stories are still rare.

Den Innovationsreichtum Deutschlands beizubehalten wird somit immer schwieriger, was sowohl Unternehmen wie auch die Volkswirtschaft gefährdet. Besonders eklatant ist das Thema Fachkräftemangel in der IT, hierzu gibt es zahlreiche Untersuchungen und Befragungen.

 In our last blog “Key Criteria of SMEs to Select IT-Consultants or Service Providers” we mentioned the role of soft skills when selecting IT-Service providers. Although hard criteria (like skills or price) play a vital role, especially for small of mediums sized companies (SMEs) soft factors play a significant role as well. We think it´s worth looking deeper into this topic and found that it has not been discussed very often or in depth so far.
