We are happy to announce that our scientifically developed outsourcing provider rating approach will be presented at the 2015 Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS). Meet Prof. Beimborn from Frankfurt School and Christian Jentsch from University of Bamberg in Puerto Rico from Aug 13 to 15.

We sincerely thank the official reviewers for the positive feedback and statements such as “a very useful concept in ICT for Development”, that our model “attempts to strike a balance between the technological components of the software and the “soft” business friendliness of the vendors. Indeed it is a holistic model” or “very informative paper with a lot of potential. I like the fact that you have developed your ’own‘ model and I can see the value that it can have for SME`s”. This feedback is highly motivating for our whole team.

AMCIS is the leading American conference on research done by Information Systems academicians:

A white paper by Nuno Ribeiro, ubiwhere and Joerg Stimmer, pliXos

The lack of IT experts (Fachkräftemangel) as heavily experienced in Germany is a challenge in many European countries and hampering growth. At the same time other countries do have SW developers, etc. in quality and valuable numbers who want to get engaged. Transferring them to Germany and hiring them locally is found not to be a long term solution.

We propose a dedicated nearshore approach to be a solution of choice by eliminating any overhead and adapting the best practices proven at corporations to the specific needs of smaller or medium sized enterprises (SMEs). The upcoming nearshore destination - Portugal - is introduced and some of the benefits of Portugal are explained. The expertise of the authors as well as the options to support companies – especially smaller or medium sized ones – by a successful nearshore approach in SW development is touched.

The International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) is forming a chapter in Austria and invites local industry experts to the first IAOP Executive Round Table in Vienna (March 10th, 2015). The event is intended to further introduce IAOP to the participants and discuss latest insights from the IAOP 2015 Outsourcing World Summit in Phoenix, Arizona (February 16-18, 2015). The event will be extended to share views on innovation topics, networking opportunities with outsourcing leaders, and to individual networking amongst the participants to lay the foundation for the Chapter work.

Prof. Daniel Beimborn from the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, who is linked to IAOP through the academic alliance with University of Bamberg, will give a key-note on the topic of “Outsourcing Relationship Quality”. Prof. Beimborn is leading a current research project at the University of Bamberg on measuring Outsourcing Relationship Quality, which is supported by pliXos. This research project is open for industry partnerships and pliXos will work with participants from client and provider side to implement the results to create high value outsourcing relationships.
